Megan Smith Breaks School Record
Senior standout Megan Smith is no stranger to leading. She currently holds the offices of Senior Class President, Student Council President, and National Honor Society President. She was selected 1st Team All-District and 1st Team All-Region for LHS volleyball, and she was selected as Academic All-State.
Megan's basketball career has been a series of achievements that she has worked hard to accomplish:
As a freshman, Smith was named 1st Team All-Frisco.
Her sophomore year she was selected 2nd Team All-State MBCA, 1st Team All-Frisco, 1st Team All District, Mansfield Tournament MVP, Newburg Tournament MVP, Missouri Sportswriters 1st Team All Central Region, and KJEL Area All-Star.
Megan's Junior year she earned 1st Team All-State MBCA, 1st Team All-Frisco, 1st Team All-District, Missouri Sportswriters 2nd Team All Central Region, Newburg All Tournament Team, Mansfield All Tournament Team, KJEL Area All-Star, and SWMO Preview Magnificent 11's.
This brings us to her senior year. Megan was All-Tournament Team and named MVP of the Mansfield Tournament, and was selected to All-Tournament Team at Mt. Grove Holiday Tournament. On February 9th the Wildcats defeated Plato 65-52. Smith scored 29 points, taking her career points to 1, 616, which passed Amanda (Adey) Floyd who had 1614. Adey played for Gary Green from 2000-2003.
Congratulations to Megan, the Wildcats and Coach Steve Rissler for a tremendous season! There is a lot of basketball left! Come out and support the Wildcats as Smith increases that record and ensuring a long standing legacy at Licking High School.
